Ground Electrical

It’s rare to find a company that builds community as intentionally as it builds circuits but Ground Electrical does both.\

Ground Electrical, founded by Master Electrician Steven Almeida, began as a solo operation between 2007 and 2011. Since then, Steven grew his business steadily with a clear vision: build a workplace grounded in heart, integrity and inclusiveness. From the very beginning, it was never just about wiring circuits. It was about building a community.

What really makes Ground Electric different is their people-first approach. Steven often says, “If the employees aren’t happy and the clients aren’t happy then what are we doing?” That’s a mindset we deeply respect. They offer flexible hours and family-friendly policies, and they’re genuinely committed to creating a supportive space for women and minorities in the trades. Inclusivity isn’t just an afterthought, it is woven into their company culture.

A big milestone for them was finally getting a dedicated shop space in 2024. Having a “home base” has made a huge difference, allowing for better organization, regular team meetings, and community events like BBQs and holiday parties. It’s clear those gatherings help everyone feel connected and motivated.

But what truly impresses us is how their core values, compassion, integrity, and inclusivity translate into action. Whether it’s waiving service fees for clients who need it or offering workmanship warranties that often go beyond the standard one-year mark, the team is committed to doing right by people, even when it’s not the easiest path. As they say, “You can call us five years from now, and we’ll still come take a look.”

We’ve also been inspired by how seriously they take diversity. They hire immigrants, women, and people from all kinds of backgrounds. As Allison Macnaughton put it, “You can’t ask for diversity and then turn it away at the door”. Flexible schedules, open- minded hiring, and supportive mentorship help make that commitment real every day.

Looking ahead, Ground Electrical plans to expand into multifamily construction projects. While these jobs may not always bring in the biggest profits, they provide steady work and help the company stay true to what matters most: supporting the people who make it all possible. To us, their commitment to people and sustainability isn’t just inspiring, it’s a blueprint for the future of trades.
