what we do

Office to Advance Women Apprentices NB

The Office to Advance Women Apprentices New Brunswick helps advance women in under-represented trades. We develop partnerships with employers, trades unions, government, and training institutions to identify barriers, track and measure success, and work with tradeswomen in New Brunswick to increase their opportunities for success in the under-represented skilled trades.

The Office to Advance Women Apprentices New Brunswick creates ongoing support services for women seeking or already employed in the skilled trades.

Our work includes:

  • Connecting tradeswomen to employers
  • Career services, employment supports, and networking opportunities for tradeswomen,
  • Engaging and building partnerships with key stakeholders including employers, trades unions, and training providers to improve participation and success of women in the trades, and
  • Development and maintenance of a registry database to track services provided and apprenticeship numbers of tradeswomen.

We are building on the Office to Advance Women Apprentices’ successful model from Newfoundland & Labrador; creating a meaningful program promoting the value of women in under-represented skilled trades.

The office’s measurable outcomes will impact, not only the trades industry, but the lives of women who enter the trades, earn their Red Seal certification, and pursue a lifelong career of learning in a challenging industry, with wages and benefits to support their families.
